Under the guidance of the Roshni Social Action Centre on 28 December 2020 in Aregoppa, Hangal Taluka had an Inaugural function of Jyothi Tailoring Centre for women & girls in order to raise their economic status. At present 25 girls are learning tailoring.
Distribution of Food Items
Roshni, having understood the situation of elderly, children, disabled, migrant workers, nomads and very poor families during covid-19 lockdown period came to their rescue by providing grocery items. Groceries like dal, sugar, grains, spices, rava, beaten rice, sanitary items, edible oil and jiggery were distributed to 550 families of Hangal Taluk. Door step delivery of the groceries was done by the staff, Lok Manch leaders and Village Development committee members.


Dosthi Week Programme
Childline se dosthi week programme was held from 13 th to 20 th November. Press conference was held to give the details of one week programme and to present the work of Childline in the Taluk. Four Press reporters were present for the press conference. Online safety and drug abuse session was organized in two colleges namely Government P.U. College and NCJC college Hangal. Mr.Prasanna Kumar, professor of B.Ed College and Mr. Anand Doddakurubar from Police department were the resource persons for the session. College students were enlightened on the ill effects of drugs and social media. Childline se dosthi band was tied to the Taluk officers and the owners of garage, shop, restaurant and grocery shops. The purpose of tying band was to create child friendly environment and to sensitize people to eliminate child labour and protect the rights of children. A campaign was organized in Manohar Nagar village, to sensitize the villagers about child marriage, corporal punishment and physical abuse. Drawing competition was organized for children with disabilities. This was done to encourage the participation of children with disabilities. 37 children participated in the competition and the winners of the competition were awarded with the prizes. Child safety awareness was given by displaying a photo frame of Childline for the auto drivers, passengers in the bus stand and the college students. Closing of childline se dosthi week was done by organizing essay competition to the high school students of Nissim Aladkatti on the topic boon and bane of modern technology. Prizes were given to the winners of essay competition.

Teachers training
Training for the teachers of government school was held at BRC office Hangal. Sr.Anitha and Mr.Diggappa took up the training as resource persons. The teachers were made aware of the need for inclusive education and the methods of teaching children with disabilities amidst normal children. Teaching aids to be used to teach language and mathematics to children were taught to the teachers. There were 52 teachers, 2 officers and BRC were present.

Public hearing programme
Public hearing was organized by Roshni in order to enable children to present their problems and challenges before the government authorities. Mrs. Bharathi Walvekar, the State Child Rights Commission member gave a hearing to the issues of children. More than 200 children from different villages participated in the programme and expressed their problems. The Government authorities namely Mr.Andanappa Vadageri DDPI, P.Y. Shetteppanavar DD of women and Child department, Mr.Mallikarjun Matad DDWO, Mr.P.S. Yerriswamy Thahasildar, Mr.Channappa Rayannanavar Taluk Panchayath EO, Mr.H. Srinivas BEO, Mr. Santhosh Kumar CDPO and Mr.Majid S.H CWC president were present for the hearing. Government officials assured to solve their problems.

Staff Picnic
Roshni organized two days tour to Mysore for all the staff of the Centre. Staff had a outing to Chamundi hills, Shukavana, Palace, Brindavan and GRS park. These two days were days of togetherness and enjoyment to all the staff. Staff had good time by keeping aside all their schedules and work pressures.

Staff capacity Building
Two days training on team building and communication was conducted for the staff of Roshni. Mr. Srinivas Gowda, serial actor and Mr. Jayanth Kumar from AIFO foundation were the resource persons. The staff were given the skills of communication through various activities and games. Team building exercises were conducted to know the characteristics and importance of team while working with community. The staff of Sneha Sadan, Byadgi joined us for the training.

Training for School Development and Monitoring Committee Members
The training was given to SDMC members in Roshni. SDMC members of Shivpur, Nitaginakoppa, Ajagundikoppa and Gundur, where the learning centers are functional attended the training. Mr. Hanumanthgowda Patil from SIRD, Mysore was the resource person to help them out to know about their rights and responsibility towards the development of their schools.

Training to Construction workers
A day’s training was held for construction workers on registration of construction workers and the facilities available to them. Mr.Vinayak Kurubar from CITU was the resource person for the training.

Training on Advocacy and networking
A training on advocacy and networking was organized for Lok Manch leaders. Mr.Somshekar Kothambari was the resource person. The leaders got enlightened on the ways of doing advocacy and building network with government departments and other organizations.
