Niramaya Card Distribution and Parents meeting

Early Intervention and early education programme of Roshni organized parents meeting and distribution of Niramaya cards for children with mental retardation, autism, cerebral Palsy and multiple disability. Parents were made aware of the various government schemes available to the differently able and the need to form their association. In the distribution program CDPO Mr. R Saboji, , ward member Mrs  Thaherabhi Mulla , Mr Guddappa B Kallimani from Agriculture department and Sr Dimple D’souza  were present  . Niramaya cards were distributed to 21 children.

 

 

Distribution of Study materials for poor girl children

Programme was organized to distribute study materials for twenty orphan and semi orphan girl children from poor background. The programme began with the prayer song by the sponsored children. In the programme, Mr.Ravi Babu Poojar advocate, Mr.Anand Social welfare officer, Mr.Ranganath Hanumareddi Block Resource Person and Ms.Savitri Janageri Police Constable were present. Invited guests appreciated the work of Roshni in brightening the future of poor girl children. Children were given the study materials to support their education. Children expressed their gratefulness to Roshni for being a great support to them.

Capacity building of Lok Manch Leaders

Lok Manch leaders are actively engaged in advocacy and networking with government departments. Having studied the problems of construction workers and the indifferent attitude of the Labour department, Lok Manch leaders met the District commissioner, discussed the issues of the construction workers and demanded to establish labour office in Hangal. They also observed Labour day in collaboration with Chutuku Sahitya Parishad. They were trained on various government schemes available for people and the ways of tapping them as well as on water and environmental protection.

Measurement Camp of Assistive devices

Purpose of this camp was to provide respite care to relieve the physical and mental strains placed on both caregivers of children with special health care needs while also creating unique opportunities to benefit the child to overcome the noted disability.

Support of Assistive devices and related services would improve the functioning of children with disabilities. It is instrumental for children’s development and health, as well as for participation in various facets of life communication, mobility, self-care, family relationships, education, and engagement in play and recreation.

Inclusive Education Camp

Ten days residential camp for the children of inclusive education program was held at BCM hostel Herur. Various activities are conducted for the children.

Deliberations of the camp emphasized the need of Inclusive education of Children with disability as Children with disabilities are among the most stigmatized and excluded in their age group. They are likely to have poorer health, less education. This leads to less economic opportunity when they grow up, and are more likely to live in poverty and deal with greater inequalities than their peers without disabilities. Furthermore, girls with disabilities face even more discrimination due to gender, disability and other compounding factors such as poverty and ethnicity.

The camp focused on sensitization of parents, teachers and other members of the society on need of inclusive education of children with disability.

 

 

Early Intervention & Early Education Camp

Four days residential training for the early intervention children and their parents is held in Pre metric hostel at Hangal. Dr.Nirakar and Mr.Naren from APD are training the parents to learn activities that would help the child achieve their developmental milestones. Focus of the training was on screening of infants and toddlers supporting Early Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment program. This camp helped the parents in use of standardized screening technicsto monitor child development. Also it supported in development of information sharing, Child care process and referral networks;

This resulted in collaboration between public health, child welfare and early intervention services to ensure children in the child welfare system are ensured at early age group of 0-6 years of children.   

Staff picnic

Staff outing was organized to Agadi farm on March 28th 2019. It was a day of leisure and relaxation for the staff to be free from regular schedule. The staff enjoyed the beauty of nature, traditional food and the traditional culture.

A day out – Child Rights

Children panchayath members of Naregal and Aladkatti had a day’s outing to Tibetian camp Mundugod on March 3rd 2019. Children enjoyed in the company of each other by going around the golden temple. Children had lot of fun and learning on life skills

FREE EYE CAMP – Community Organisation

On Feb 23rd 2019, free eye camp was organized under Lok Manch programme in collaboration with Rotary hospital, Sirsi. 238 people participated in the camp and got the benefits of free eye check up. Among them 75 people with cataract were selected for surgery. All of them underwent successful surgery and got spectacles.

International women’s day – Gender Equity

International women’s day was observed by the five self help groups of Navaneeti cluster in Gotgodi ploton March 10th 2019. The programme began with the awareness rally on the theme to build a gender balanced world. Various games were conducted for the women to enthuse their spirit and fervor. The programme was inaugurated by Rev.Sr.Apoline Cordeiro. In her inaugural address she called upon the women to be positive amidst the challenges of life and move forward trusting in one’s ability. Women exhibited their talents by putting up various cultural programmes. The entire village collaborated and participated in the  programme.
