Staff Capacity building

Staff capacity building training on social analysis was organized for the staff in Roshni. Rev.Fr.Santhosh Dias, Director of Mother Theresa Charitable Trust, Gulbarga was the resource person for the training. He gave the inputs on what is social analysis, difference between information and analysis; how to analyze a problem and the values to be inculcated by a social worker in the process of social analysis were made clear to the staff. Two days training was a useful to the staff to analyze the various problems they come across in their respective area of work.

Training of Lok Manch Leaders

Lok Manch leaders were given training on the schemes available for farmers and the people with disabilities. Mr.Sangamesh from Agriculture department briefed the farmers on various government schemes available for farmers and Mr.Shivkumar from Roshni explained about the various facilities available for the people with disabilities. Mr.Chanbasappa, a farmer from Hirekerur shared his success story of water preservation and the techniques he used in farming. Lok Manch leaders were happy about the learning they had through the resource persons.

Cricket Tournament on the occasion of World deaf day

Roshni had organized two days cricket Tournament in Taluk ground on the occasion of world deaf day. Cricket Tournament was inaugurated by Taluk Panchayath president Mr.Siddappa Hirgappanavar. Twelve cricket teams participated in the tournament. The players were asked to express their opinion regarding hearing impairment, situation of the hearing impaired in the society and the role of Government and community in their empowerment. The cricket teams became aware of the needs of the deaf and were enlightened to support their cause. Amul Stars team was the winner, Zoya Z team were the runner up and Darga team got the third place.

Taluk Advisory Board Meeting

Taluk Advisory Board meeting of Childline programme was organized by Roshni in CDPO office Hangal. Thahasildar Mr.Gangappa M. presided over the meeting. Government officials from Women and child, backward classes, Social welfare, Health, Education departments, Depot manager and NGO representatives were present. Issues pertaining to child marriage, child abuse and beggary were discussed. Panchayaths and departments were called upon to take responsibility for the well being of the children.

 

Life Skill training for Children panchayath representatives

Life skill training for the children panchayath representatives of Hirekanagi, Adoor, Balambeeda, Karagudri, Baichuvalli, Bommanahalli, Kanchinegaluru and Araleshwar was held in Adoor and Hangal Tree Park. 130 children got insights on self esteem, communication and stress management. Fun games and other activities were conducted for the children. They had a day of relaxation and learning in the company of each other.

Surgery screening of children with disabilities

Surgery screening camp was held in collaboration with Association of people with disability Bangalore, B.D.Thatti Trust, Lakshmeshwar and Roshni Trust Hangal. The programme was organized in Malladada Rudramma Memorial hospital Haveri. Dr.Abhishek from Indira Gandhi hospital Bangalore did the screening of the children and referred them for necessary treatment. 22 children from Haveri and Gadag districts got the benefits of this programme.

Flood Relief work

Many of our villages were affected by floods and people lost their houses, cattle and crop. People were in the relief centers. The staff of Roshni visited the villages and relief centres, listened to them and met their needs. Relief materials like food items, bed sheets, mats, mosquito coil, candles, torch, clothes and toiletries were distributed to the people in Hirekanagai, Chikkeri Hosalli, Allapur, Hangal, Shigihalli Shingapur, Naregal and Hirehullal.

Open House Programme

Open house programme was organized in Kelavarekoppa Panchayath. Ms.Prema Atavalagi, Co-ordinator of Childline programme was present for the programme. 75 children from four schools participated in the programme. Gram panchayath president and members, SDMC president and its members, representative from District child protection unit, School teachers, CRP, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers of Kelavarekoppa panchayath were present. Children expressed their needs of having compound wall, drinking water, ground and class room facilities in their school. Gram panchayath president assured to support the cause and fulfill their needs.

Awareness on Early identification of disability

Balambeeda and Naregal Panchayaths organized awareness programme for the people of villages in collaboration with Roshni . Mr Shivakumar Manglinavar and Diggappa Lamani gave awareness to the people on the causes and the ways of preventing disability. Rights of person with disability Act 2016 was explained to the people. Both the Panchayaths handed over a cheque of Rs. 5000 for Roshni under the 14th finance for organizing the awareness programme .

 

Lok Manch leader

Lokmanch leaders from Loyola Vikas Kendra Mundugod, Jyothi Social Acton center Mundugod , Holy cross social action center Mainalli , LVK Hangal and Roshni  gathered  together in  Roshni to discuss and plan the activities and to give a thought of forming Lok Manch as a movement. Leaders shared their success stories and achievements. They had a discussion about forming a core committee for strengthening the movement. Responsibility was given to one leader from each organization. The meeting was a great help for the leaders to learn and get motivated by each other.
