Republic Day Celebrations


Republic Day was celebrated with pride and enthusiasm in the community, honoring the nation’s heritage, unity, and progress. The event included flag-hoisting, cultural programs, and speeches, bringing the community together to commemorate India’s Republic Day.

Outing for Differently-abled Children


A special one-day outing and relaxation program for 48 differently-abled children was organized to Kaginele. The event provided the children with a memorable and rejuvenating experience, offering them a chance to enjoy the outdoors and take a break from their routine.

Huge Job Fair in Hangal taluk


For the first time ever in Hangal taluk, a significant job fair was organized to help unemployed youth find employment opportunities. The event saw a remarkable participation of 1,720 individuals, with 750 securing jobs. This initiative aimed to combat youth unemployment and empower the local community.

Christmas Celebration


The staff at Roshni Social Action Centre celebrated Christmas Day with festive activities. Santa made an appearance, adding fun to the occasion. They also cut a Christmas cake, a traditional part of the celebration. Gifts were exchanged among the staff, promoting a sense of community and goodwill. Overall, it was a joyful and memorable celebration that highlighted the spirit of togetherness.

Shanthi Sadan Convent and the Roshni Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Addicts at Nalkara Cross

On November 30, 2024, the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation (UFC) celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of two key institutions: Shanthi Sadan Convent and the Roshni Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Addicts at Nalkara Cross. The event was graced by dignitaries, including Most Rev. Bishop Derek Fernandes, who officiated the Holy Eucharist and blessed the institutions, and Most Rev. Sr. Milly Fernandes, Superior General of UFC, who inaugurated Shanthi Sadan Convent and presided over the Silver Jubilee of Roshni Social Action Center. Sr. Gretta Sanjivini D’Souza, Provincial Superior of Hubli Province, unveiled the plaque marking the opening.

The event also saw Shri Shrinivas Mane, MLA, inaugurating the Silver Jubilee of the Roshni Social Action Center in the afternoon. He praised the efforts of the Sisters, staff, and volunteers in making the center a success, and the ceremony honored past directors and long-standing staff for their contributions.

The inauguration of Shanthi Sadan Convent and Roshni Rehabilitation Center signifies UFC’s ongoing commitment to community welfare, particularly in supporting individuals affected by addiction. This milestone reflects their dedication to transforming lives and offering hope and healing. Congratulations to the Sisters of Roshni Convent and staff for their continued service and impact.

Children’s day

On the occasion of Children’s Day, November 14, 2024, a Medical Intervention program was conducted in Shivamogga. The initiative aimed at providing healthcare support, and it benefited 36 children who received essential medical care and treatment. This program was a significant step towards improving children’s health and well-being in the region, ensuring they have access to necessary medical services.

Environmental Awareness

Under the guidance of Hanagal Roshani Social Action Centre, members of the Mahila Self Help Sangh from Aregoppa Hirekanigi and Muduru villages, along with village development committee members and Janavedike leaders, came together to promote environmental awareness in the rural community. They organized a sapling planting initiative, encouraging local residents to participate in preserving the environment. The effort aimed to educate and inspire the villagers about the importance of greenery and environmental conservation for a sustainable future.

Diwali Celebration

An interreligious gathering was held on Diwali, featuring messages of peace and unity from religious leaders. Scriptures were read, and the staff of Roshni Social Action Center, along with their families, joined in fostering harmony and inclusivity. 

Tailoring Certificate distribution Program

The closing ceremony of the sewing training center and certificate distribution program was held in Aladakatti village, Hanagal taluk, for young women who completed six months of training. The event was organized by Roshni Social Action Centre of Hangal and Adarsh Taluk Women’s Union. Sister Janet, Superior of Roshani Convent, was the chief guest and felicitated 36 young women who completed the training. She also distributed a free sewing machine to a hearing-impaired woman. The ceremony was attended by Coordinator Kallappa Naykar, Panchayat Development Officer SonuBai Marathi, Senior Civic Association member Chandappa Katannavar, Progressive Organization leader Muktananda Hiremani, and village elders.
